Arsenal Announces SLR-106 to be Discontinued

Arsenal has released that production of their SLR-106 series of rifles and pistols has officially ended.

The SLR-106 was a Bulgarian built AK platform chambered in 5.56 NATO.  They offered several rifle variations, as well as a pistol.

Personally, I will miss seeing these rifles.  I have found them to be solidly built combining the American 5.56 with the reliability of the AK platform.  My SLR-106F has proven to be a reliable companion and is one of my defensive carbines of choice.

At the same time, I understand that Arsenal is competing in an ever growing market for 5.56 rifles, and all of the others have one thing in common: magazines.  Since the SLR-106 is the odd man out in the magazine department, needing proprietary magazines, I can begin to see why it is a harder platform to sell.

It's a shame, but one of progress.  The SLR-106 made an interesting mark on the 5.56 rifle market during its time.
